Code of Conduct
The Code of Conduct for Breakers Netball Club is relevant to both players and family members attending the game and training environments of our teams.
As members of Breakers Netball Club, both players and family members must meet the following conduct requirements during any activity held or sanctioned by Netball Australia, Netball Queensland, affiliated regions, member organisations or clubs.
The Code of Conduct is shared with each players family and must be submitted prior to participating in the first training session.
PLAYER RELEVANT
1. Timeliness & Commitment to Your Team
Be on time and give your full participation for all training sessions, matches, and carnivals scheduled by Breakers Netball Club. If you cannot attend a training session, game or carnival, you must notify your coach and/or team manager at your earliest opportunity.
2. Wear the Correct Uniform
Breakers Netball Club uniform requirements are listed on our website and also in our welcome documents. The non-adherence to uniform requirements will result in a bench position for the game.
3. Know and Play by the Rules
Always understand and adhere to the official rules of netball (as is age appropriate). The rules of netball can readily be found online. We recommend the resources available on the Netball Australia website. Your coach is available to support you with understanding of the rules of netball.
PLAYER & FAMILY RELEVANT
1. Respect & Cooperate with Officials, Coaches, Team Managers, Teammates and Opponents.
Without these individuals, there would be no netball training or competition. Always be respectful and grateful to the people involved in your netball opportunity.

Never argue with an official. If you disagree with a decision during the game, ask your coach for clarification of the incident.

Verbal abuse of officials, coaches, or other players is prohibited

Deliberate fouling or provoking an opponent is prohibited

Damaging equipment or physically aggressive behaviour is prohibited

Treat all players with fairness and respect. Do not interfere with, bully, or take unfair advantage of another person.

Maintain control of your emotions at all times and exhibit good sportsmanship. Our club fosters a culture of acknowledging good plays made by both your team and your opponents.
2. Acknowledgement of Volunteer Effort
Breakers Netball Club is run by volunteers who freely dedicate their time to provide opportunities for each players participation in netball. Please treat them with respect and show appreciation for their efforts.

Supporting Your Child/ren

As a supporter of Breakers Netball Club, your role is vital in fostering a positive and supportive environment for both your child and all players. Parents/Guardians and extended family/friends are encouraged to attend games and cheer on their child and the playing teams.

Encourage and support your child’s holistic participation in netball. This includes simple enjoyment (fun), physical development (fitness), skill development (netball skills & teamwork) and social development (friendships).

Ensure that your child is only participating when they are healthy and well.

Support your player with their timeliness, wearing of uniform and the development of good sportsmanship

Sideline Behaviour at Training & Games

Parents must refrain from coaching from the sidelines or during breaks.

Siblings must be supervised at all times. Siblings (even if they are a registered Breakers player) are strictly not allowed to participate in another team’s training or game for insurance purposes.

We encourage spectators to be patient and enthusiastic supporters of all team players. The sharing of ‘less than positive’ opinions about the skills of other team members is in no way appropriate in our club.

We encourage parents/guardians to be supporters of their Team Coach, team and club as a whole. The sharing of ‘less than positive’ opinions with other parents about team compositions, positions and coaching strategy is not appropriate in our club. Should you have a question or concern relevant to team compositions, positions and coaching strategy you are welcome to communicate with your Team Manager, Coach or if necessary, the Executive Committee.
CHILD SAFETY & HARASSMENT STATEMENT
Breakers Netball Club prioritises Child Safety has a zero-tolerance policy regarding harassment in any form. If you believe that harassment is occurring within the club, you should at all times;

Be very mindful if speaking with other parents about the matter. Ensure you are communicating with a party that can help in the management of the situation and not in a manner that promotes gossip or breaks privacy for an individual.

Incidents of harassment will result in mediation and potential suspension or cancellation of membership. Incidents will be treated seriously and managed by the executive committee.
GRIEVANCE STATEMENT
Breakers Netball Club understands that from time to time, in group environments, differences of opinion or standards of behaviour will occur. Should a grievance occur for you, it is important that you address it in a timely manner so that it does not impact your season experience or your team culture.
Approach to solving grievance within Breakers Netball Club ;

Children must never be approached about a grievance by a parent

Depending on the seriousness of the matter, consider addressing the issue directly with the relevant club member, ensuring you are polite, have a solution in mind and open to a varied opinion as a response

Communicate your grievance privately to your Team Manager. They may be able to solve your grievance independently or may be able to help you communicate with the relevant club member to solve your grievance.

If your grievance is not able to be resolved through communication with the relevant club member or through your Team Manager you are welcome to approach the Executive Committee for assistance. Breakers Netball Club is committed to the smooth running of our club and individual teams. The committee will adhere strictly with our club Code of Conduct and values in its approach to solving the matter. We kindly note that not all grievances are solvable and may at times also be the source of Code of Conduct disciplinary process.
DISCIPLINARY ACTION FOR PLAYER CODE OF CONDUCT BREACHES
Breaches of the Code of Conduct will result in a disciplinary process. This process may include ;
1. Verbal communication of the issue with a witness
2. Written communication regarding the issue
3. In Person Mediation
4. Suspension of Membership
5. Cancellation of Membership
If the disciplinary process results in Cancellation of Membership, season fees will be refunded in a pro-rata manner.
ACKNOWLEDGMENT AND AGREEMENT
In participating in our season, players and parent/guardians confirm that each party has read, understood and agreed to abide by the expectations outlined in our club Code of Conduct. You also understand that failure to comply may result in disciplinary action regarding your family membership at Breakers Netball Club.
The Code of Conduct must be completed & submitted before the start of the 2026 netball season.
